Pop monument (to scale)

Installation with HD video 5’30’’, sound, 2011 Dimensions variable.

Pop Monument (to scale) is a slide projection transferred to video, complete with the sound of the slide projector. The images depicts pop corn being made inside a microwave oven. The “pop” bag turns into a sculptural object as it self inflates, and the oven becomes a little theatre where this object morphs and grows into form by picking up on the waves of its environment.
The video is looped, and the original slide projection consists in 72 pictures and 8 blank slides. As the image sequence starts, the sound of a microwave kicks in. it stops at the last picture slide with its familiar “cling!”.
