This video work is a reading of Lautréamont’s text, using face-swapping, disguises and vocal distortions that recall a kidnapper’s or terrorist’s statement of intent. The title – Gémissements – is after the opening line of Poésies I: “Les gémissements poétiques de ce siècle ne sont que des sophismes”.
